Cover art for 'A Present From The Future' by Erika Nováková
Geck-o tells a tale of hope through all times, challenging as they might be. We feel the urgency, so we connect with our deep roots on this planet and manifest our dreams for the world we want to live in. We can only imagine what our future will be, and that very imagination is what fires us up today. This album showcases an intense and fantastic vision of what might be, to experience right here and now. This is A Present From The Future.
Q: When will the album be released?
A: The digital release of the album will drop on Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Beatport etc. on the 14th of May 2021. The album will also have a release on 2x12" vinyl, and you can already pre-order your copy through The Funky Cat's shop
Q: What do I have to pay for the vinyl album?
A: The vinyl album will cost you €26 plus shipping costs. Shipping costs will depend on the country you're ordering from, and you'll be able to see the amount when checking out in our shop. General rule: the farther you're located away from The Netherlands, the higher the shipping costs. Feel free to order other items from our shop along with the album.
Q: Is there any way I can reduce the shipping costs?
A: Shipping can be quite pricey nowadays, which is unfortunately out of our hands. If high shipping costs are keeping you from ordering, try to hook up with friends. Bundle your desired copies into one order, and split the shipping costs! Adding other albums from our shop to your order won't increase the shipping costs, so that might help you to justify your order ;)
Q: When can I expect delivery of the vinyl edition?
A: Vinyl production is a long process and takes about 2-3 months to complete. This means we optimistically expect to be able to send out orders at the end of June or July. It is not uncommon to have hiccups in this process though, so be prepared for it to take longer than that.
Q: What do I have to pay for the digital album?
A: The album will be available on The Funky Cat's Bandcamp, where you can name your own price - simply pay what you want! Want to download it for free? Go ahead. Want to pay a million bucks? Very much appreciated! And anything in between goes. On other portals like Beatport or Apple Music, you'll pay the regular pricing for those platforms, and if you're subscribed to a streaming service like Spotify or Deezer, there's no one stopping you from listening to it all day long.
Q: Will I get the digital album for free if I order the vinyl edition?
A: You can simply download it for free from Bandcamp if you want, see previous question.
Q: How many tracks are featured on the album?
A: The album contains 12 tracks in total, plus a bonus on the vinyl version... The vinyl album is mixed in four separate parts, one for each side, and the digital album will contain both separate tracks and a full continuous mix. The full tracklist will be announced soon.
Q: What can I expect of the music on the album?
A: Expect a conceptual journey across many genres and through all kinds of styles and impressions, the most eclectic side of Geck-o at The Funky Cat. It's a fusion of listening experiences and dancefloor oriented tracks - think more along the lines of 'Alien Sound System' than 'Personality Test'. To get an impression, listen to the three album singles 'Together We Build The Future', 'Good Hope' and 'Invocation'.
Q: What can I expect of the album artwork?
A: The vinyl will come with the main album cover art by Erika Nováková printed on the front. The backside will feature title, tracklist and credits. Inside, you'll find two inner sleeves with artwork printed on both sides, taken from the album singles 'Together We Build The Future', 'Good Hope', 'Invocation' and ... to be announced ;) All by Erika Nováková. This means you'll have three beautiful pieces to display!
Q: Does the album have a gatefold sleeve with artwork on the inside as well, like 'Alien Sound System'?
A: 'A Present From The Future' does not have a gatefold sleeve. Instead there's artwork printed on all sides of the inner sleeves, giving you a chance to display more of the artwork - see previous question.
Q: I am concerned about the environmental impact of vinyl. Did you think about that?
A: Yes, and that's why we've chosen to press with Dutch company 'Deep Grooves'. They claim to be "as green as possible", with all of their machines powered by green energy, green gas and solar energy - all supplied by local suppliers. Also, their granulate (the grains they melt to make a vinyl record of) is based upon calcium zinc stabilizers instead of the classic heavy metal stabilizers, which are highly toxic. Check their website for all eco measures they're taking!
